Founding and Early Direction
Sonancy.Studio was established on July 16, 2020, by MegAnne Stryker and Brian Yegge as a creative publishing venture. Initially conceived to investigate the applications of frequency healing, the company soon redirected its efforts toward media production, specializing in photography, film, and music. This shift was exemplified by the release of "Hex (Prognosticator Mix)," a single by Brian Yegge under his artist pseudonym Angershade, which debuted on major streaming platforms on December 3, 2020. The success of this release sparked discussions about expanding Sonancy.Studio into a record label, with Angershade positioned as its inaugural artist.
The "HeXXmaS" Project
In January 2021, Sonancy.Studio initiated principal photography for "HeXXmaS," a promotional photography project designed to showcase the company’s creative vision and attract collaborative opportunities. Released on February 14, 2021, "HeXXmaS" embraced a dark, occult-inspired aesthetic, characterized by atmospheric candlelit scenes, gothic symbols, and mystical elements, as evidenced by its intricate imagery of pentagram-adorned candles, skulls, and esoteric artifacts. Despite its artistic impact, the project’s release was followed by internal challenges. Creative differences and divergent goals between Stryker and Yegge surfaced, leading to the dissolution of the partnership between Sonancy.Studio and Angershade.com just two weeks later. The company’s online print store was discontinued on March 1, 2021, and, despite attempts at reconciliation, Sonancy.Studio officially ceased operations on March 30, 2021.
Revival Efforts and New Projects
In June 2021, Stryker and Yegge reconvened to explore a renewed collaboration, agreeing to operate without the Sonancy.Studio branding. This meeting resulted in two projects: "Bad Day" and "DISASTERP1ECE," both attributed informally to the publishing entity "YeggeStryker." However, during the second night of principal photography for "DISASTERP1ECE," a disagreement prompted Stryker to abandon the project, leaving it incomplete. Stryker later proposed editing and releasing the existing material, but Yegge declined, citing potential complications. He permitted her to proceed independently and offered consultation support, though no further progress was made. The project remained unfinished for over a year. In January 2022, Stryker and Yegge mutually agreed to terminate their professional relationship.
Post-Dissolution Controversy
In February 2022, a fraudulent website emerged, displaying "HeXXmaS" content in a derogatory manner. Stryker publicized the issue on social media, sharing screenshots and acknowledging an unnamed individual who had informed her of the site. Upon learning of the incident, Yegge launched an investigation and sought Stryker’s cooperation to identify the perpetrator. Stryker’s reluctance to assist stalled the effort, and the investigation concluded as inconclusive on May 31, 2022. In August 2022, a mutual acquaintance reported that Stryker had accused Yegge of creating the fake website, prompting Yegge to reopen the inquiry. Throughout both investigations, Yegge repeatedly requested that Stryker disclose the identity of her informant, but she declined to provide this information.
Content Ownership and Resolution
After 19 months of unresolved disputes over the unauthorized use of copyrighted material, Yegge opted to ban its commercial use in August 2023. This decision was upheld by Meta and Google, and Stryker was directed to remove the content from her platforms. Stryker was granted an opportunity to appeal through Google, though Meta denied a similar request. In a final attempt at resolution, Yegge offered to transfer full ownership of the "HeXXmaS" photographs to Stryker, contingent upon her revealing her informant’s identity. Stryker rejected the proposal, accusing Yegge of attempting to manipulate her. Yegge subsequently withdrew the offer and enforced the commercial ban indefinitely.
Current Status
All assets and intellectual property associated with Sonancy.Studio and "YeggeStryker" have since been consolidated under Yegge Publishing. While Brian Yegge retains ownership of the content, its commercial use remains prohibited. adjustments!
